Complete Job Description

Job Posting Sick of commuting? Tired of “hybrid” jobs that are really “in office” jobs in disguise? If you’re more productive at home than in an office, and want to make that arrangement permanent, we may have the position you’re after. At CarriersEdge, we’re focused on producing great quality products and happy customers. We don’t care about being the coolest company in town, having the most amazing office perks, or the hippest staff. If you’re interested in those things, you’ll hate us. On the other hand, if you’re not looking for a social group and just want to do great work, then you may be exactly what we’re looking for. We don’t care where you work and we won’t be looking over your shoulder micromanaging you. You’ll have minimal meetings disrupting your week, and plenty of time to focus on doing the best job possible. We’re growing, but not so quickly that things are chaotic. As part of that growth, we’ve got an opening for a Graphic Designer. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in the skills outlined below, is a self-learner with a great work ethic, and has a keen interest in communicating through visual design. This isn’t a big company with layers of bureaucracy and committees for every decision. It’s also not an agency where you’ll get crushed by client demands and deadlines. Our business is established and stable, but still small enough that we can move quickly. If you fit the profile below, send us your résumé and a link to your portfolio and let’s talk. About You - You like to understand the “why” behind any assignment, including the context of the end user, so that your design solutions will be effective for the intended audience - You’re a creative generalist, comfortable delivering across media — from print and web to social and video — and you like to teach yourself new tools - You have advanced knowledge of After Effects best practices. You’re the person everyone goes to for tips and the go-to resource for major projects - You're equally comfortable collaborating with others or working solo, and you can reliably build on the design work of others. - You are meticulously organized, in ways that other designers can easily follow. Badly-organized files make you physically ill. - You thrive on feedback, recognizing that continuous improvement comes from practice and outside input. Your Typical Week Reporting to the Creative Manager, you will collaborate with team members from Marketing and Content Services to design marketing materials and interactive courses. Day to day, you will work with the team to create visuals in support of multiple brands, campaigns, and projects. This will include websites, social media, advertising, and instructional content. With 12-15 projects underway at any given time, a normal week will see you balancing time between short term tasks (social media, webinars) and larger projects (course development, website redesigns), while also keeping ongoing activities on track. As part of a remote team, you will connect with team members across the company through Slack, email, and Zoom. Requirements - Post-secondary education in Graphic Design or a related field - 5+ years of progressively senior experience, preferably in B2B, SaaS, or agency environments. - A portfolio that demonstrates experience with both digital and print assignments - Demonstrable, expert knowledge of After Effects or similar motion graphics tools - Strong knowledge of other Adobe Creative Suite applications (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) - Excellent attention to detail and ability read thoroughly and follow instructions, so please find a way to mention Alaska in your cover letter - Ability to work independently, but also closely with other designers, developers, and marketing teams to ensure visual designs align with project goals - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - MUST reside in Canada Additional Notes - Principals only, no recruiters please - This role has a salary range of $60,000–$75,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. - This is a remote position, suitable for individuals with disabilities CarriersEdge welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
